Davit Arm System Testing, Inspection & Maintenance Services
The testing of davit systems is essential to ensure their continued safe use. Davit arms should be tested twice annually to ensure they are compliant & safe to use as heavy load bearing fall protection systems.
We ensure that Davit arms are tested and inspected following BS EN 795, BS 7883 2019, BS 8610: 2017 & LOLER guidelines. Our inspection service is competitively priced, and we'll send reminders a few months before your next testing and inspection service is due, so you won't ever forget.
Davit arms are used where there is a requirement to suspend a load over a roof edge, parapet or glazing system. The majority of applications which we encounter are for the suspension of personnel in the form of either an abseil or cradle systems. They act as lifting equipment and façade access systems typically, meaning they're responsible for your workers lives. Ensuring they're fit for purpose is the duty holder's responsibility - and as a building owner or site manager, that's you.
Due to the load in which Davit Arms can support, it is required to have them tested & inspected regularly.

Our engineers are approved and experienced and familiar with the full range of the temporary davit and permanent davit products and manufacturers found in the UK, including MSA Latchways and mansafe systems, so you can rely on Altus Safety to ensure that all equipment is fully compliant and ready to use next time it's needed.

Davit arms are designed to bear significant loads over a precipice or edge. They can be used for a variety of tasks, but most commonly they're used on tall buildings to provide workers with rope access to the side of the building for things like window cleaning or maintenance/repair work.
-
Height equipment of this nature carry significant potential risks and are bound by high regulatory standards to ensure that their safe usage is maintained. Testing and inspection once every 6 months is the minimum standard because davit arms are designed to carry such heavy loads and personnel. If the system were to fail, the consequences would be catastrophic.
It's your responsibility to protect workers at your site, and testing and inspection services for davit systems by a competent individual is the best way to do that.
