Mobile man anchors are a great way to provide fall protection on flat roofs where it is not possible to have fixed solutions such as safety lines and anchor bolts or edge protection such as fixed guardrails.

They're simple, cost-effective solutions that conform to BS EN 795: 2012 E, BS 7883 2019 standards, and they can be installed quickly and easily, offering superior protection for workers at height on roof areas.

It is recommended to have Mobile Man Anchor systems tested for compliance every 12 months, at Altus Safety we would recommend visually inspecting the temporary fall protection before every use for signs of corrosion, wear and tear or damage. If any obvious loose fitting is spotted, then these fall protection systems should be taken out of action until they can be inspected by a member of our team.

A mobile man anchor is a movable fall protection system designed to be easily positioned in multiple areas securely. This gives workers a secure anchor point from which to carry out their repair or maintenance tasks without fear of falling, whilst also providing the flexibility of position they may need to carry out their tasks.
Regular maintenance is a requirement by law because mobile man anchors are ultimately responsible for the safety of your workers whilst at height.
They supply the anchor point from which they carry out work. If that anchor point were to fail, then a fall could occur and serious injury or death could follow.
A mobile man anchor system should be inspected a minimum of every 12 months - and even sooner if issues are spotted.
You should make it a habit with your workers to ALWAYS check a mobile man anchor out before and after each use to spot any small issues that could turn into much larger ones when in use.
Some things to look out for include:

- vandalism
- missing parts
- frayed edges
- loose connections
- damaged PPE
If any of the above signs are spotted, or something else that makes a worker doubt the integrity of the mobile man anchors on site, then the system should be taken out of action immediately. This should be communicated with the entire team and then a call to our customer service team should follow to organise an inspection of the system.
